Anyone can walk with us; you do not need to be a club member. (But we’d love for you to join!)
Traditional Events
- Walks are held on a set date, at a set time, usually once a month.
- Directions and a map for a 5 km and a 10 km route are created and curated for interest, accuracy and safety.
- Walkers come to a Start Table and register, take a set of directions and follow them and return.
- When possible, the walking route will be marked.
- These walks cost $4.
- We offer a group walk ½ hour after the start time of the walk, with a group leader that is familiar with the route being walked.
- Walkers that track their distance and number of events walked in special books will get a stamp in their books at these events. This is called “walking for AVA/IVV credit.”
Seasonals and Year Rounds
- Seasonals and Year Rounds are 5 km and 10 km walking routes that a walker can choose to do on their own at any time when the walk is available.
- Walkers must register for these walks at a Walk Box located at a local business or by using the Online Start Box.
- Directions and a map are provided, but the walking route will not be marked.
- These walks cost $4.
- Walkers that track their distance and number of events walked in special books will stamp their own books.
- Our club occasionally offers group walks of our seasonal and year round walks.
- More information about these walks are on our Seasonal and Year Round Events page
Other Walks
Occasionally, we’ll hold walks where we just go and walk as a group! These shorter walks will happen most often during Walking Week in April or in conjunction with The RiverFront as one of their programming partners. Our club pays the insurance fee for these walks as part of our mission to encourage “Fun, Fitness and Friendship”, so there’s no cost to the walker.
