Historic Council Bluffs 5k and 10k – Walking Week

Learn about the Lotus Monastery in Council Bluffs before walking the historic 100 Block, Bayliss Park, Veteran’s Plaza, Squirrel Cage Jail, little Bregant House and more. Council Bluffs is filled with history. The 5 km walk will pass the historic 100 Block, beautiful Bayliss Park with its unique fountain, the block long Veteran’s Plaza, the Union Pacific Museum housed in the Carnegie Library building, one of the few Squirrel Cage Jails left in the country, the miniature Bregant House built for the “little couple” who worked for Woodward Candy. A second 5 km loop will add the Historic Dodge House and Victorian Homes of Oakland Ave. and the Black Angel.

• The trail rating for this walk is 1A for the 5k and 2A for the 10k
• Strollers will be able to handle the route
• Leashed dogs are welcome, but cannot come inside the monastery
• A group walk will start at 9:30, if you’d like to walk with others.
