About

The Nebraska Wander Freunde Trailblazers (NWFT) was formed in March 1979 as one of the first American volksmarching clubs in the American Volkssport Association (AVA).

We  offer 6 “Traditional” or One Day Walks in September, October,  November and December and again in  March, April and May.  Some years have bonus walks in June.  The NWFT currently hosts 4 different Year Round and 2 Seasonal Walks, along the Interstate 80 corridor and in the greater Omaha metropolitan area, including western Iowa.

In January, we hold our Annual Meeting, which is a dinner meeting installing new club officers and recognizing our “Walker of the Year”.

The rest of the year, the club hosts monthly meetings on the first Monday from September through June (except when a holiday falls on that Monday, then the meeting is held the following Monday). In April, we hold a club social after walking, with a brief meeting.  Meetings are held in the basement of Maple Ridge Retirement Community, 3525 N. 167th Cir, Omaha NE.  Meetings feature a speaker, club business and refreshments. All attendees are eligible to win the drawing for a $10 prize.

During the summer months, we get together and participate in local activities, such as baseball games, ice cream outings, tours and civic events.

You do not have to be a member in order to participate in a walk or come to any of our activities, although we do encourage membership.  Click to open the Membership Application Form in a new window, where it can be printed for you to fill out.  Members are recognized in our bi-monthly newsletter for achievements, birthdays and anniversaries and receive discounts on club activities.
